Chevrolet Repair: 5.0 MPI Mercruiser Engine, mpi mercruiser, timing chain

Question
Hard starting when warm. Clod starting NEVER a problem.
Have to advance the throttle when its warm (from running)in order to start.
I noticed there is a hose going from the throttle body to a electrical controlled valve, then to the intake manifold. Is this to supply more air when warm starting??

Answer
Hi Robert... no it's not...if you have a hot start problem check the timing chain, if it has enough slack in it, it will roll out of time making for a hard start when hot. could be a couple of other things but that is where i would start....also look at the coil and see if it gets too hot after running, that would also give you a warm start problem.also check in the throttle body and see if you maybe have a flooding problem when warm. if you think it is, get engine warm turn off, then disconnect the plug for the TB inj. see if it starts right up, also look and see if inj bleeding down after shut down. (leaking fuel)causing the flood...hope this helps
