Chevrolet Repair: 2001 chevy cavalier problems, chevy cavalier, transmission problem

Question
hello...i have a 2001 chevy cavalier thats been acting up for some time and two shops that i have taken it to cant seem to figure out the problem since the car wont act up while they have it.  so here it goes...the car drives fine until the low trac light or the trac off light comes on...when it does come on and you are at a stop..the car will either stall or it redlines before it slams really hard into each gear. if you are driving when the light comes on it just redlines before slamming into each gear. so what i have to do is pull over...put the car in park...shut the car off for a few sec. and then turn the car back on and put into drive....if it still slams into drive...i shut the car back off and repeat the steps until it quits slamming into gear. thanks for your time

Answer
Hi Tonya,  this sounds like a transmission problem you have with the car. So it they are looking for a engine problem they are not going to find anything. Since the problem goes away after turning the car off, I would suspect a bad solenoid inside the transmission. There should be a code in the transmission that will help them to locate the problem.

Hope this helps
