Chevrolet Repair: 82 P30 454 MH, vacuum source, vacuum line

Heater/AC does not work.  No vacuum to control head.  I just bought this vehicle and having to counter previous no so good maintenance.  There is a vacuum line hanging down just front of the engine.  I verified that this the vacuum line to the AC/heater control head in the dash.  It has a broken white fitting in the end.  I can not find anywhere to connect this line.  From what vacuum source did Chevy drive the AC/heater controls?

I found this question in the question trash can.  Once it ends up there, any expert can answer it.  It has been there a while.  Sorry about that.  I hope I can help.

I would connect this to a man. vac.  It is the most powerful vac; and though it falls off, it is still present when accelerator is pressed.  Should be enough vac left at crusing speed to operate these heater doors.
