Chevrolet Repair: ignition trouble, chevy silverado, high beam

Question
hello, i have a 1990 chevy silverado pickup. my problem is that when i turn the ignition, there is smoke that comes from the steering column. also the switch now no longer works when you turn to start it. what would you recommend?

Answer
Hi Chris, I would look at the ignition switch. It is located on the drivers side of the column. The high beam switch is mounted with it and is the first one to come off. Be sure to check the terminals in the connector, melted or over heated needs to be replaced.

Hope this helps
