Chevrolet Repair: Shift lever light, 2002 cavalier z24, shift lever

Hi,

I own a 2002 Cavalier Z24 and my shift lever light is out.  Is is a bulb to replace or a fuse?  All they other interior lights are working.  I called a dealer and they said it is the cluster that needs replacing or even the prindle switch?? Then they said it could just be a bulb on the cluster to fix?? I am so confused on that it is that isn't working, please help me!!  Thanks.

I am assuming that you are talking about the light that lights up on the center console that shows prnd21.  If that is the case the center console needs to be lifted up and the 194 bulb needs to be replaced.  I have changed 3 recently.  The console is held in with at least 3 10mm bolts.  I am certain the bulb will fix it don't pay more than 80$ for replacement.
