Chevrolet Repair: 1991 astro van eng compartment cover, astro van, firewall one

Question
how do i remove the eng comp cover.i released the brackets on the cover but it will not budge.do the bolts on the bracket have to be removed?

Hello Dick, there are 2 bolts at the firewall. One on each side and the use a 15mm socket. Look just above the gas pedal and you will see the one on the drivers side. Look through the engine cover on the passenger side and you will see this one. When you go to put it back on be careful that you get the bolts lined up with the J nuts that they screw into. It helps to have someone help by watching from the outside to help you get them into the nuts.
