Chevrolet Repair: 95 camaro trouble starting, fuel pressure regulator, first few days

Question
I just revently bought a 98 Z28.The first few days it ran fine. Now it sat for a few days and when I tried to start it up,it took forever. It was turning over easy and when it finally started it was missing and smokin very badly as if it were flooded. In a few seconds and a few attempts to keep it running,it cleared up and ran fine.Next day same thing, only after about 5 minutes,I killed it and let it sit for another 5 minutes.Same thing again and when it finally started back up after a few seconds(45 sec or so) It ran fine again.Im stumped here.I am wondering could it be the check ball in teh fuel pump? Man any way you can help me,Ill be thankful.Im tryin to do this all myself and Im fairly mechanically inclined person. Thanks again.

Answer
You say it was smoking very bad. That sounds like it's running very rich when starting. Possibly there are one or more defective fuel injectors that are dripping while the engine sits. Or the fuel pressure regulator leaking fuel through the vacuum circuit.
Are there any DTC's set?
What's the fuel pressure at?
