Chevrolet Repair: 95 Chevy Suburban stumbles at 1,000 RPM, chevy suburban, auto tranny

Question
My 95 Suburban starts a bit rough (takes a couple of cranks sometimes) but after a minute runs fine. Out of gear it seems to have good acceleration with only a slight pause around 1,000 RPM but when in gear and starting off it stumbles a bit as the accelerator is depressed and around 1,000 RPM it really stumbles and then catches up. Once the auto tranny is in 2nd it runs fine the rest of the way up. I had a diagnostics check and nothing appeared out of spec. What could be causing this? It's a 5.7 with TBI. Thanks in advance for your help. Jim

Answer
About the only thing I can figure is something to do with fuel pressure. Your fuel filter may be clogged. At lower rpm's is when you can really notice a problem if that's it. Another thing I would say is to check your timing. There should be a brown wire and plug somewhere in the wiring that runs along the firewall near the junction box on the passenger side. When you unplug the connector, start the truck and check the timing. It should be at 0 degree's before top dead center. If not advance it accordingly to get it back to where it needs to be. But I'm leaning towards feul filter.
