Chevrolet Repair: ABS system, chevy malibu, abs light

Question
I have a 1998 chevy malibu and recently every time I turn the steering wheel to the left, the ABS light comes on. I have checked the brake pads and the fluid levels. What would cause this and is the car ok to drive?

Answer
It is NEVER SAFE to drive a vehicle when you have a brake problem.

Your problem is most likely to be a faulty wheel sensor and or a miss-positioned wheel sensor.

If you remove a tire and wheel from the vehicle you will see on the backside of the brake assembly a round wheel with approx 50 small teeth on it. There is a little plastic sensor that sits real close to these teeth on this wheel. Look at all the other wheels and their respective sensor so that they all appear to look to be the same distance from the teeth on all 4 wheels. also check the wire that goes to these 4 sensors for damage.
