Chevrolet Repair: 1997 Astro antenna replacement, antenna mast, radio antenna

Hi David,

I was wondering if you could tell me how to replace the radio antenna on a 1997 Astro Van? It is non-power. It got snapped off and I just want to replace it with a like one not an upgrade.

hi marie.  I am not sure what type that model has.  The antenna mast will either screw off, or it is connected underneath the fender.  If that is the case, then you will need to take a wrench and unscrew the base of the antenna.  The hardest part is routing the wire, so I suggest before totally removing the old one, use it as a pattern to run the cable to the back of the radio.  Good luck on it, and if I can help you in any other way, please do not hesistate to ask.
