Chevrolet Repair: 98 Chevy S10 Pickup Oil Guage, chevy s10 pickup, s10 pickup

Question
I recently bought this pickup and noticed that the oil guage, after about 5 min of driving starts to fluctuate a lot.  It ranges between the 20 and 60 marks.  At freeway speed it stays contants at about 60 or a little above but as I slow down it and then stop it goes as low as 20.  At one point a loud beeping started to come from the dash but went away after about 5 seconds.  I checked the oil level and it seems fine.  The manual says that the readings will vary and as long as it is above the low pressure zone things are ok.  Is the low pressure zone the red part just above 0, that seems low?  Also, does this sound ok or is it a sign of something else?

Answer
Hi Tyler, This could be normal. Oil pressure will vary from high speed to low speed. Just for a piece of mind I would change the oil and filter and see if the oil pressure stays the same. If it does and the warning lights never come on your OK.  Some oils will break down that is why I would change it.
