Chevrolet Repair: 1993 Cavalier dieing while driving it., chevy cavalier, bad computer

Question
My friend has a 1993 Chevy Cavalier 4 cylinder that started dieing on her about a month ago. She states that on short trips it does fine but if the engine warms up it will shut down at anytime while driving. She has to let it cool down and then it will run again. She also states that she has to wait til the check engine light comes back on and then the car will crank and run. She has taken it to several mechanics and none of them can find anything wrong but they are glad to charge her from $50 to $65 to look at it. I appreciate your help in this matter.         WCO

Answer
Hi WCO, This sounds like a bad computer to me. I would just buy a new/reman computer for this and install it. The computer is behind the glove box and is easy to replace. Just be sure that you transfer the prom that is in the old one to the new one.

Let me know how you make out
