The dashboard light for the fuel gauge is burned out in my 1992 Corsica.  What do I need and how do I change it?  Thanks.

Hi Bill,
On some of the older cars, you can reach up behind the dash and touch the back of the bulb holders. If you can, about a quarter turn counterclockwise will get them out.
Then you just need a new bulb.
It might be necessary to remove the instrument cluster from the dash, which usually doesn't turn out to be as difficult as one might think.

Dear Van:
Thanks for your response, but I still don't know how to change the bulb.  I removed the plastic panel around the steering column and under the dash, but there is no access to the back of the gauges.  I can't reach up to get to the back of the bulb holder because the gauges are up and recessed.  I tried to remove the front clear plastic cover over the speedometer and gauges, but I couldn't get it off.  Any other suggestions?  I don't know how to go about removing the instrument cluster.

Bill

Answer
Hi again Bill,
I don't work much on cars, so haven't worked on a Corsica.
If you can't get behind the cluster, then it needs to be removed.
I can't direct you on that, but I have never seen one that couldn't be taken out.

A Haynes manual from a parts house would be a good investment if you are going to do much of your own work on the car.
You can also read manuals at the public library, refference section.
