Chevrolet Repair: 1985 K-10 Blazer leaking coolant, heater hoses, pipe nipple

Question
Got the water pump out and sure enough, the gaskets are toast.  Also, the bottom radiator hose where it clamps on to the pump was leaking as well.  It only seemed to leak when the engine was up to temp so I am going to go ahead and replace the thermistat and housing as well just to be sure.  Do you know what size the threaded insert is that you are supposed to re-use from the old pump in the new pump.  The insert on my old pump is so darn rusted and wont come out.

Thanks again,

Question -
I parked my 85 Blazer today after work and noticed coolant draining from in front of the motor.  I suspect the waterpump gasket but I am going to go ahead and replace the pump anyway.  Am I in the right area?  I have a 305 w/4bbl carb and AC (that doesnt work)and around 200K miles. Also, do you know of any websites that I can go to for decent parts at decent prices for the older full size Blazers?
Thanks.

Hi John,
I would guess that you are in the right area, although there are hose connections and the radiator, as well as the thermostat housing that could leak.
There is a weep hole in the bottom of the water pump shaft housing, that if you could get a look at it, might help you make sure you are not missing the problem.

Answer
Hello John,
I do not know the size, but you will want to get one from a parts house, rather than just using a pipe nipple, although pipe threads is probably what it is.
Also, when you replace the hoses, do not use any sort of grease or oil to lube them. Same for the thermostat gasket.
Lube the hoses with antifreeze to slick them up. Oil will deteriorate the rubber, and they will break down in the future.

Be a good time to replace the upper hose, heater hoses, and belts also.
