Chevrolet Repair: 02 CHEVY MALIBU, vacuum leaks, chevy malibu

Question
$70,000 mi on '02 malibu....getting ready to do trans flush but ck engine light will come on every couple of weeks (usually after driving for couple of hours) & trans starts to shift hard, especially from park to reverse or drive & between reverse & drive. Shifting gets smoother at higher gears. Light goes off after one or two days & then trans shifts smooth. Everything else all ok. Throwing code PO113 (according to Autozone). Have been told that needing to flush trans could cause hard shifting...& been told that sounds like valve body needing replaced @ $500. Help! Going on extended trip in few weeks.

Answer
Occasionally, vehicle manufacturers will use the same DTC across different vehicles and platforms. If the DTC that you entered above returns more than one DTC description below, you will need to match certain digits of your VIN to determine which DTC description applies to your vehicle.

I went to a site I will send to you and plugged in P0113, and got this:
P0113 Intake Air Temperature [IAT] Sensor Circuit High Voltage

That could be a loose connection, or a restriction in the intake system, dirty filter, etc.

I didn't see anything about a control valve. Surely nothing where I would suggest spending that much.
Browse these links, and see if anything helps.

Check for vacuum leaks, also.

I stuck this last link in as something to keep for the future.
