Chevrolet Repair: oil and antifreeze dripping around trans, chev pickup, head gasket

Question
I have a 1994 chev.pickup aprox 175000 mi on it. It isa v6. Started dripping oil and the bottom of the truck has oil from the transmition bell area to the rear of the truck. Also there is some antifreeze mixed into it. When I get under the truck I can not tell if the oil is comming out of the rear main or the intake manifold area. How can i tell where the oil and antifreeze is comming from? The oil is all around the bell and even on the oil filter. I thought it may be the filter but i changed it and it is just the same. The antifreeze seems to drip from behind or above the starter area. I just can not see the intake manifold area back there to make a sound judgment if that is the leek area. It would be nice if it is the manifold for my-self.

Jim
thanks

Answer
Hello Jim,
Get a few mirrors, and if you can get one of those like a dentist uses, or one from a parts house.
Then get the vehicle out of the sunlight. If you can get in a dark garage, and use a good flashlight, or droplight, but not one with the plastic cover on the bulb, cause you get too much light in your eyes, and can't see in the mirrors.
It is possible for both to leak out the intake manifold, but more likely to be a head gasket.
There is no coolant at the rear main seal, but there could be a freeze plug up in there.
