Chevrolet Repair: 97 Chevy Van 2500 Starter/Ignition problem, chevy van, collum

Question
Barry I have a 97 Chevy 2500 Van. I was driving a few weeks ago and the starter kicked in while driving and burn it out. I replaced the starter then went to start the van and the started kicked in and would not kick out this was in the on position not the start, I replaced the relay nope that did not fix it,replaced the elect swithch on the collum nope that did not fix it. Well it statred then after about 10 mins of runing I shut it off. Well went to start it back up same problem trying to start in the on position again. So then I replaced the ignition mech part. Started the van pulled it out side of the shop to let it warmup then the stater kicked in while ruing. Any suggestions.  Thanks

Answer
There is a fused/burnt/melted wire connected to the activation wire somewhere. As in, the wire that runs to the "S" side of solenoid is crossed somewhere in the harness or at the switch coupler. Or, perhaps the battery cable end is touching the "S" terminal at the solenoid. It's VERY rare for the solenoid to engage from just the batt. lug itself. Trace wiring harness from solenoid to switch for smashed or burnt wires, I'm sure you'll find something of this sort, Good Luck.
