Answer
Hi Joky,
On the hydraulic cylinder it appears that you have to remove the interior rear quarter trim panel and also the 'extension' of that panel, though I can't be sure as the manual only says to remove whatever interior panelling that is necessary. If you can't access it after going in from behind the seat, then I suspect that those interior panels will have to be removed. The manual does show how to remove those panels and I can photocopy and postal mail those pages to you. It costs me 10 cents per side plug the postage which you can reimburse me for after you get the pages by sending me the equivalent in postage stamps. Just let me know your postal mailing address.
On the code 54, that for the 3.0L engine, is the fuel synch signal being absent. That signal is one of two signals coming out of the distributor and suggests either a wiring issue or a problem with the photodiode inside the distributor. So look at the wiring, specifically the tan/yellow wire that goes from the distributor to pin 44 of the pcm. If that seems OK then it may be that you have to replace the photodiode unit in the distributor.
I don't see that correcting the 54 code would necessarily deal with the transmission problem.
Please read the PS below and respond to it.
Thanks,
Roland
