Chrysler Repair: codes 1684, 1685, powertrain control module, prevention system

Question
Hi I was wondering if you could tell me what the codes p1684 and p1685 on a 2001 pt cruiser would mean I know that they are a driver5 line4 and driver5 line5, but i don't know what that means
Thank you Neil

Answer
Hi Neil,
I don't know what those phrases you listed mean either. The 1684 code means that sometime in the past 50 key on-off cycles the battery power to the powertrain control module was disconnected. This my simply be a disconnect of the battery clamp(s) and is not considered significant unless this hasn't happened.
The 1685 means that the sentry key immobilizer module (theft prevention system) has sent an invalid key code to the pcm. It suggests the wrong key way tried to start the car recently.
