Chrysler Repair: Radio fading in and out and engine stalled: 04 Sebrin, sebring convertable, 4 digit numbers

Question
QUESTION: I have a 2004 Chrysler Touring Model this morning I thought it was the radio station because the song seemed to be skipping a beat i changed the station and it did the same thing then when i stopped at the dry cleaners the car stalled out but it started right back up but then the radio was going "haywire again, do you think its the fuses as you mention before i someones question #5 and #14 and is it drawing the battery down, i dont have any other indicator lights on?? Im real worried its a great car and has 140,00 miles on it...thank you very much! jan

ANSWER: Hi Jan,
I assume this is a 300 sedan. Keep a watch on the voltmeter gauge of the dash to see if it is dipping toward the - end of the scale in synchrony with the radio fading out. That would tell you if the voltage on the overall system is being dragged down or not. If it is, then check again after turning off the radio to see if the voltage drop still occurs. If it does, then we have to try and figure out what component in the electrical system is causing this, other than the radio. Let me know what you observe and we'll go from there. It could be something simple like a slipping alternator belt, for example. You might also try turning the key:"on-off-on-off-on and leave on" doing that in 5 seconds or less elapsed time. Then watch the odometer window to see if the mileage reading changes to show any 4-digit numbers preceded by a P. If so, let me know those as well.

QUESTION: its a sebring convertable touring model and i noticed you metioned the #5 and 14 fuses on another convertable response

Answer
Hi Jan,
While those fuses indeed are related to the radio, and in fact to all the interior lighting systems as well, I don't so far see any reason to implicate them unless you observe similar problems with the interior lighting, for example. You might do well to look carefully at fuse 14 which is exclusively for the radio to see if it might have a crack in the internal wire which is opening and closing spontaneously. Other than that, let me know your observations based upon my earlier thoughts.
