Question
QUESTION: year 1999
make chrysler voyager
model le
engine 3.3 auto
Hi there the problem is when i change the heater to cold it comes out of all the vents when i put it to hot it only comes out of windscreen the blower control dial seams to not change direction of the blower but i can hear it doing something but dont know what it is doing any ideas thank you for your time.

ANSWER: Hi Mark,
The problem could be in the actuator (motor) that moves the 'mode' door in response to the dial settings. The system can self-diagnose and also self-calibrate so give this a try: Starting the tests is fairly straight forward, but following up on any faults requires further action/interprestation of the way the lights are flashing at the conclusion of the first test. All the possibilities cover about 6+ pages in the manual.
But let us give it a try. The engine must be running. Set the blower on HIGH, set mode to the PANEL position, open all AC outlets, Set temperature slide pot(s) to COLD, Depress WASH and REAR WIPER simultaneously for 5 seconds (Until all LED's light). The LED's will stay on for 5 seconds. Calibration tests are running when the rear wiper and intermittent are alternatively flashing. Cooldown test is running when the A/C and recirc lights are flashing.
Acceptable result is when the rear wiper only LED is flashing.
Push rear wiper button to exit.
Interpretation of codes (presumably stored if you don't get the above result) is an involved process for which it would be better to xerox copy and postal mail you the pages.
So see whether your unit seems to behave according to what I have described, and please let me know.

PS I just found your question in the 'pool' to which it had been refered by the other expert. Please 'rate' my answer, and where you see the question about 'volunteer of the month' please consider a 'yes' if this effort proves to be helpful to you. Thanks

Answer
Hi Mark,
As mentioned, the further analysis is covered on about 8 pages of the manual which I can copy and postal mail to you. If you want these tell me a postal mailing address. If it is convenient for you to reimburse me for copy costs and postage that would be appreciated but is not necessary. After you do the further analysis we can discuss the specific problem that it reveals and how to repair it. I will include a page that shows the mode door actuator and describes how to get it and service it. I believe that actuator/door is involved in your problem.

PS If you would be so kind as to 'rate' may answer that would be appreciated.
