Chrysler Repair: 00 2.5 V-6: rough idle, pollution reduction, egr valve

Question
QUESTION: Hey roland, I figured out my issue but I dont know how to fix it.

After replacing my egr valve and plenum gasket, and making SURE there are no leaks the car was still running rough. All the same signs, catalytic was still smelling bad, backfire, rough idle.

But heres the funny thing, the second I take off the electrical connector to the EGR valve, the car runs PERFECT, and when I rev the engine the valve opens as it should. Any ideas what could cause this? Should I just leave it unpluged?

ANSWER: Hi Ian,
I can't understand how it opens when the solenoid connector is removed...but if it works well, see how it goes and let me know. If you don't have to pass state inspection then you should be ok to go.

QUESTION: Yah, I don't understand it ether. I don't have the pass a state inspection (I live in florida) but it does still bothers me that, that part of my car is not working, is there any danger to my car if this isn't connected? That is my largest concern.

Thanks for all your help, I will miss chatting with you!

Answer
I know of no danger, Ian. It is a pollution reduction device and I have never heard of a problem that resulted from it being disabled. Feel free to contact me again, and likewise it has been a pleasure to work with you particularly because of the clarity of your communications.
