Chrysler Repair: 1998 concorde trunk/deck lid latch security, trunk deck, deck lid

Question
when trying to release the trunk lid by remote or button on the dash, neither will function, it will unlock with the key.
Can you help me.     many thanks

Hi Hulan,
My thought is that there is probably on the trunk latch mechanism a lever which has two positions: in one it will respond to the remote and button the dash, and in the other position it will only repond to the key. So look closely or check the owner's manual to see if that is the case of not. This option is designed to allow you to keep the trunk secure so that requires a key to open it and so that someone who can get into the car or get a hold of the fob will not be able to get into the trunk without your authorization. It is an anti-theft design.
