Chrysler Repair: 2003 grand caravan es 3.8 p0700 code, speed sensors, grand caravan

Question
hi roland the problem started with the ses lamp coming on and the van started having a harsh 2-3 shift then at 80 km/hr it seemed like the cruise was surging up and down ,took it off of cruise at it did same thing with pedal held steady ,then a couple of days later the trans went into limp mode ,i flashed the key and retrieved p1684 and p0700 codes only ,i know p1684 is battery repl,i changed the speed sensors ,input was clean ,output had a little metal silt on it ,i roadtested it but no change ,it shifts into 3rd momentarily then goes back to limp mode.i am suspecting tcm, fluid does have a slight faint odor but does not look burnt.

Answer
Hi Darc,
The 0700 says that there is another code stored in the trans controller memory. If is likely that you would get it via a plug-in code reader. Most Autozone parts stores will do a free code readout. If that isn't nearby then an independent shop will do in for under $40 unusally. Maybe other franshise parts stores will do it free too, so ask around. Once you get that extra code, let me know what it is and we'll compare notes with what you were told. Don't do anything until you get that readout.
