Steering Column Repair: 1997 f150 5 speed standard tilt wheel, ford steering column, tilt wheel

I went to turn truck off and could not after some trouble shooting I found that the rod from the key switch was not moving farther down to the switch farther dow under the steering column

It sounds like the rack gear has broken in your column (common problem)

Although the example is for a 2000 Mustang, the column is identical to yours (tilt and non tilt use the same housing)
