Chrysler Repair: wiper motor for 2004 pt cruiser, negative battery cable, rubber gloves

Question
I am wondering where the wiper motor is located and how to get to it so I can replace it.

Answer
Hi Margaret,
Here is the procedure:
Open hood
Disconnect and isolate negative battery cable from battery
Use a thin wood stick or equivalent to pry up wiper arm capnut.
Remove wiper arm retaining nut
Remove the wiper arm by lifting to lock up position then gently rock the connector off the pivot
Remove the cowl cover screen. The right over laps the left so begin with the right, then remove the left:
Remove the rear engine compartment seal at the cowl
Remove the three push retainers to the right side cowl cover, and remove the cover
Remove the two push retainers to the left side cowl cover and remove the cover.
Remove the three wiper motor mounting bolts and remove motor after disconnecting electical plug
Install is the reverse. Tighten bolts to 6 foot pounds
Before installing arm cycle the wiper to be sure it is in Park position.
I hope this works for you.

Many thanks for doing that.

Hi Margaret,
Thanks for the nomination! I corrected several typos...I had to type this with rubber gloves on my fingers as I was in the mid-process of dying my wife's hair!
