Chrysler Repair: town and country engine surging, 4 digit numbers, computer readout

Question
My 2002 mini vans engine is surging when it is raining or the engine is wet in the morning. Once it is hot it only does the surging once in a while. Sometimes the engine even dies in the morning before the engine gets hot. Any suggestions?

Answer
Hi Susan,
I would suggest that you get the fault codes that might be present in the engine control computer readout as they may tell quickly what is wrong. Try the ignition key:"on-off-on-off-on and leave on" doing that in 5 seconds or less elapsed time. Then watch the odometer window of the cluster to see if the milage changes to show any 4-digit numbers, preceded by a P. Let me know what they are and we'll go from there. If that doesn't work, go to an "Autozone parts store" for a free code readout with a plug-in reader.
