Chrysler Repair: shifter is stuck in drive, chrysler concorde, 2002 chrysler concorde

Question
Hello Kevin. I have a 2002 Chrysler Concorde. The last time I drove my car the shifter became stuck in the drive position. It won't budge to any other gear. I'm parked on a flat surface. Please help. Thanks!!

Answer
The shifter is attached via a cable to a vertical rod at the transmission. I would go to the transmission and find that rod (with shift cable attached), then disconnect the cable and see if you can rotate the rod by hand or not, and also see if the shifter will move when not connected to the transmission. That way you can either solve it or figure out which part of the system is locked up.
