Chrysler Repair: Replace Short Timing Chain Tensioner Guide:2,7L, shaft bearing, chrysler concorde

Question
Hi Roland I have a 2000 Chrysler Concorde 2.7L engine with 70,000 miles.  The engine developed a tingling sound but still ran ok.  With a stethoscope I was able trace the sound to the right front cylinder head.  After  removing the right valve cover I discovered the short timing chain guide was broken. The loose chain and the remains of the guide were causing the sound.
I bought a new guide removed the left valve cover, the front cover and the oil pan to cleaned out the chain guide derbies.
Now I can’t snake this new guide in.  Do I have to remove the chain to get the new guide in?
If I do, what is the procedure to disassemble the chain, reassemble  and time the cams.
Thanks

Answer
Hi Bill,
It appears that you will have to remove the cam/chain/sprocket to replace the chain tensioner (which I presume is what you are calling the guide or at least of which the guide is a part). There is no specific procedure to replace part of the tensioner (the guide, if that is a separate part?) that is shown so the repair is presuming that there may be something wrong with the cam, etc. Thus if you can possibly figure out how to do it without removing the cam shafts and chain it would save alot of work. I do notice that the step after removing the primary timing chain is remove the secondary tensioner mounting bolts, but it then follows that you remove the cam shaft bearing caps and then the camshafts, secondary chain and tensioner "as a unit". I don't know if it is possible to remove just the tensioner (with the guide?) or not.
I have the pages that describe the primary chain R&R also. Let me know if you want me to xerox copy and postal mail you applicable pages. You can reimburse me for copy and mail costs after you get the pages.
