Chrysler Repair: 2000 Chrysler minivan: digital reset, chrysler minivan, clamps

Had to replace my battery- now I have no radio, the clock, mileage & shifter stuff is all flashing & when you open the door the bell is ringing. I assume I have to reset something- but I don't know what or how!? Thanks in advance!

Just a day ago Kevin, the other 'expert' in this category, suggested to a similar situation that the battery be disconnected (both clamps, removing the - post first to avoid a short) and then touch the two clamps together for a about 30 seconds, then reconnect the clamps to the battery (again starting with the + and finishing with the - clamp). He called this a 'soft reset' of the digital system. I haven't read/heard of that approach but give it a try and let me know, please, whether it works.
