Chrysler Repair: timing belt tensioner pulley torque tool: 2.5L, timing belt tensioner, pulley bolt

i have a 96 sebring 2.5 l v6 and i did a timing job on it and jumped timing and bent some valves well i have all that fixed now and i am back to square one i need to know how to put the belt on so it wont slip off it is asking for a special too number md998767  now i know theres got to be a way there was a guy who told me there is a spot for a allen wrench on the pully and i could torque it down with this i just dont have any extra monery so if there is way let me know please

Hi David,
The tool is used to grasp that pulley (it appears to have two holes into which the tool is inserted, and then a torque wrench is applied to the tool for two steps (tightening the pulley bolt and attaching the tensioner). The torque is only about 3 foot-pounds so it would seem there should be a work-around of some sort, using the two holes, but I don't have anything to suggest. Perhaps that tool is not very expensive (no moving parts) so check it out. It is probably made by Miller Tool Co. which supplies most of the Chrysler-specific tools.
