Chrysler Repair: hard starting after first start, engine controller, egr valve

Question
I have a 92 Dynasty with 3.3  v6.
After the first start it takes about
6 short cranks before it re-starts.
"note" this engine does not have a EGR valve.
Once the car is running it runs great.
I am retired and cannot afford to take it to a mechanic.
I thank you for your time.

Answer
Hi John,
Let us see if you have any fault codes recognized by the engine controller. Use the ignition key:"on-off-on-off-on and leave on" doing that in 5 seconds or less elapsed time. Then watch the check engine light, which remains "on", to begin to flash, pause, flash, etc. Count the number of flashes before each pause. Then repeat to be sure of an accurate set of flash counts. Then either write back and tell me the counts in the order of appearance or go to www.allpar.com/fix/codes.html  We can go from there once we have some ideas about what might cause this. When you write back tell me if you have trouble with the restarts immediately after the first start (before the engine warms up) or rather after driving it for a while then trying to restart it from a warm condition. The problem could be releated to a temperature sensor which is why I ask?
