Chrysler Repair: Drivers Side Rear View Mirror: 03 Sebring, rear view mirror, 2006 chrysler sebring

Question
QUESTION: Can you tell me how to replace my Driver's Side Rear View Mirror?  2006 Chrysler Sebring

ANSWER: Hi Peggy,
The most recent manual I have is for '03, and in that one you have to remove the trim panel on the inside of the door (the triangular piece) that is held by 3 screws, and then the mirror assembly proper is held on by three nuts. You may have to partially remove the door trim panel however in addition if it blocks the way to an electrical wire that needs to be disconnected. If so, let me know and I can give you the 12 steps to do that.

QUESTION: I got the triangular trim piece off and you're right, the electrical wire is still connected to the mirror.  It looks like the wire just clips into the mirror assembly, so that it could be unattached that way, without having to remove the door panel.  But it doesn't come out easily and I was afraid to force it.  Doesn't it make sense that you would unattach the wire at the mirror assembly instead of in the door.  That way, when you replace the mirror, you keep the wires as they are and just clip them into the new mirror.  Like I said, I'm not sure though......and I don't want to break anything!!  I'm a complete rookie at this, so I need advice!

Thanks!!
Peggy

Answer
Hi Peggy,
I would check that with a dealer parts department where they will either have the mirror itself or a computerized parts manual that will show whether there is a disconnect at the mirror proper or not. The '93 manual appears to show it is not disconnected at the mirror proper but rather inside the door. If it were at the mirror I would believe that there would be a rather obvious release "ear" on the rear edge on one of the sides of the plug which when squeezed releases the plug.
