Chrysler Repair: Chrysler 1994 Town and County squeal, stethiscope, serp belt

Question
V6 3.8L I have a load squeal that is constant, doesn't matter what gear I am in, it does get a little loader on excel. We have had two pulleys replaced, the surp. belt, and a new alternator was put on and then taken off because it didn't fix the squeal.  The squeal went away after one of the pulleys was put on but came back in a week then the squeal went away for about a week after the serp. belt but then came back.  The temp is fine when driving it there doesn't seem to be any electrical problem (starts right up and no sputtering), but I can't drive it with that load squeal.  Any ideas of what it might be?

Answer
Hi Kasie,
The first thing to do is try to find out which belt driven component is the site of the squeal. Use a piece of rubber hose as a stethiscope to listen at each location to find out. Then examine two things about that component: Is the plane of the pulley for that componnent in the same plane as all the other pulleys driven by that belt and second, loosen the belt and verify that the component doesn't have bad bearings. It may be that the belt tensioner pulley's arm is worn out and so the pulley is tilted with respect to the plane of the other pulleys.
That is the approach I would recommend.
