Chrysler Repair: Tie rod end and ball joint repair: DIY?, postal stamps, ball joints

Question
Daughter took her car to be inspected and she was told she needed to repair the inside right tie rod end and both ball joints.  What kind of a job is this?  I am capable of working on fairly complicated mechanical problems.  The price quote was pretty pricey and she would rather not have to spend that amount right now.  If I could get an idea want kind of a job this is I might save her  a little money.

Thanks for Your response.

Answer
Hi Eric,
A tie rod end is not a major project but you will probably have to buy/rent a tool to press the end out of the steering knuckle. The ball joint question is more complex: upper (if there is an upper) or lower?, and what is the year, model, body of the vehicle. I can xerox and postal mail you the pages for your daughter's car if I have the manual for it and you can then decide. Let me know a postal mailing address, and I can copy the pages you need a 10 cents a side which you can repay by sending back postal stamps (no cost if it is less 8 pages).
