QUESTION: Can I bypass the internal fuel pump in my 1999 300M, with an external universal electronic fuel pump?

ANSWER: how do u plan on getting the fuel from the tank if u do that?

QUESTION: Sorry. What I meant was could I either install the electronic fuel pump prior to the tank to push the gas through, or after the tank to pull the gas?

nope  U cant do either  U need the pump removed inside the tank to get to the gas  and if U are going to do that  then just replace the pump thats in there.  dont try and short change this repair  it will cost  more in the end with other repairs that u will need to do.
