Chrysler Repair: fuel inlet tube repair: Cirrus/Stratus/Breeze, chrysler cirrus lxi, diameter screws

Question
i have a 1996 chrysler cirrus lxi and the fuel inlet tube is totally discounected from where you fill the the tank would i have to replace the whole fuel tank

Answer
Hi Cord,
The fill tube is actually in 2 parts before the tank proper: the filler neck and a rubber attaching hose.
There are 3 screws that hold the top of the fuel filler neck to the body and the other end of the neck appears to go into a rubber connecting hose that is clamped at its other end to the fuel tank inlet.
So I would take a look at whether you lost the screws or if the screw holes wore out and thus you might modify by using larger diameter screws in place to affect a reattachement of the neck to the body. It that doesn't work then it would appear you could replace the neck with a new one from a dealer or get one from a wreck. So long as you can attach the neck to the body and the rubber connecting hose tightly, you won't have to do anything about the tank itself.
