Chrysler Repair: 96 Grand Caravan - cooling problem, coolant temp, grand caravan

Question
The Rad Fan froze up - replaced whole fan assembly and fan relay module.  The car temp gets up past 1/2 way point - turn on A/C and still neither fan turns on.  Should I be looking for a coolant temp sensor and if so what might it be located?

Answer
Hi Alan,
The fans should come on when you use the AC regardless of the coolant temp. I would suspect the fan motor relay which is a solid state device mounted on the left side frame rail just in back of the radiator. Trace the fan wiring back to the relay for direct locating.
There was a factory recall on this relay in the mid-late 90's model so you might even get one free at a dealership. Be sure to attach the new one firmly to the rail for cooling effect.
