Chrysler Repair: 2005 dodge neon blower motor, dodge neon, fuse box

Question
MY blower motor is not working. I checked all the fuses in the fuse box under the the hood next to the battery everything seemed ok.  So I disconnected the power plug at the blower motor. No power to the blower motor. Blower motor works fine when I hook up direct power to it. So I disconnect the plug to the back of the blower switch. Test the plug and no power coming to the switch. What should I do now.

Answer
Hi Tim,
My '01 Neon shows that the fuse 6 under the dash is the one that supplies voltage to the motor and the switch that you checked would not show voltage IF the resistor block (which is what produces the varying voltage levels for the different speeds) were burned out as it it between the fuse and the switch that you tested. That block is the most common cause for failure of the blower to work. It is located at the base of the windshield on the passenger side, hidden under the air intake on the cowl just in front of the windshield. Remove both wiper arms (gently lift the cap at the pivot, then remove the retaining nut, then gently rock the arm end off the pivot). Then remove the cowl screen (unscrew five screw along the screen just below the windshield). You will then find the resistor block in the channel below the screen. Simply unplug it and snap it in/out of the hole in the firewall. Buy a new blower resistor block before you do this so you will know what to look for.
