Chrysler Repair: No headlamps/dash lights: 91 LeBaron, chrysler lebaron, fuse box

Question
I just bough a 91 chrysler lebaron at a dealership yesterday and the dash light and headlights dont work, we bought fuses thinking that we would try that first but most of the fuses are gone and the cover to the fuse box is gone so I am trying to find someplace online that would have a fuse box layout. Any suggestions?

Answer
Hi Jessica,
I don't know for sure but you could try Autozone.com to see what they would show. Are you speaking of the power distribution box under the hood or the fuse box under the dash as being the one that doesn't have a cover? I will study the circuit from my wiring diagrams for '91 and let you know what the possibilities are for no headlight action/no dash lights in a follow-up answer. I assume this is a J-body LeBaror 2-door coupe or convertible, correct?

PS I would check the headlamp switch itself to see if that is working properly. See if the black/orange wire at the switch is grounded (it goes to a ground point on the instrument panel center support, which might be loose); see if you hear the relays for the headlamps are clicking when you have the switch "on" and you try the hi and lo beam positions. Those relays are on the left kick panel below and to the left of the dash. Fuse 57 in the box under the hood (40 AMP) is for the headlamp circuit AND several others so if the lamps are the only thing that doesn't work I would believe that fuse is ok, but check it.
Each headlamp filament has its own fuse (5 amp) and those go in 17,18,19,20 slots under the dash. The cluster need fuse 8 (5 amp).
