Chrysler Repair: 2002 Chrysler T&C belt tensioner, belt tensioner, vehicle frame

Question
QUESTION: Hello,
Is there a special tool required that fits between the vehicle frame and the belt tensioner? I'm trying to insert the sqare end of rachet into the square hole on the tesioner and I can't fit the rachet in that space. Is there another way that is commonly used to release the tesion?
Thanks,
Eric

ANSWER: 19MM wrench on the end  I also use a belt tensioner  they are thin and made for the job.

QUESTION: Ok, so you loosen it from the bolt on the non idler end of the tensioner and not the square hole on the idler end? The main reason I'm trying to get the belt off is because when we turn the engine off winding noise after the engine quits. It sounds like the alternator or something is still spinning. I figure if I take the belt off I can check them by hand. Have you ever run into this before?

Answer
U asked now to looses tension on the tensioner to remove the belt correct?   The tensioner bolt in the middle is a pivot There is either  a shank on the end that U use an open ended wrench to swing the tensioner  or u use a 1/2 inch ratchet in the hole closer to the bolt to make it swing.  The alts have been known to make noise noise from the over running clutch.
