Chrysler Repair: Instrument Panel-Air Bag light, dodge intrepid, left hand side

Question
QUESTION: Hi, I have a 1996 Dodge Intrepid ES 3.5. When I turn the ignition key to the on position No instrument cluster lights light up when turning the key on. I would say half the times the lights turn on and half the time they don't light. Also, intermittently after I start the car, the Air Bag light will illuminate. After recycling the key on off 3 times to display codes, the light turns off, however, the diagmostics shows (55), thanks for your help

ANSWER: possible ign switch

---------- FOLLOW-UP ----------

QUESTION: I live in Lake Grove, NY so having you look at my car would be difficult. You mention possible Ignition Switch. How difficult is this to change. Is there further troubleshooting I can do to diagnose? Would this also cause the air bag light to occasionally illuminate? Is this a common problem and is it a matter of the switch contatcs getting worn out?, Thank You

Answer
have a test light or volt meter?
start run a81 is the main power from the ign switch  using the same circuit  it powers up the cluster and the air bag warning light on the dash. They are a common thing to go out   seen it where the windows and other things dont work  until u wiggle the ign switch  then they are good  until its moved again.
Hit the left hand side of the ign switch  see what happens.
