Chrysler Repair: Car shutting down while running, chrysler new yorker, torque converter

Question
I have a 95 Chrysler New Yorker that is cutting off while it is running.  It seems to happen when coming back down to idle (while breaking or slowing down for curves).  It does not happen all the time, but it is happening more frequently. I have replaced the fuel filter and replaced the coil pack. I thinking it is the fuel pump seeing how it is a used car I do not know the cars complete repair history. Wondering what you might think it is? Any suggestions are helpful...

Answer
I suspect two possible problems. It's not the fuel pump because it would be completely erratic, or you would have no top end speed. The first suspect is the idle air control. To solve this, service the throttle body. The other suspect is the TCC. The torque converter locks up when cruising over 40mph. Occasionally, the control relay screws up and leaves it activated when the throttle is closed. The end result is like trying to come to a stop with a standard transmission car, without using the clutch. The best way to diagnose this one is to cruise under 30 mph for 5 min. and see if it stalls. If it doesn't, try it again at 40-45 mph. If it stalls at decel or stop, it;s definitely the TCC.
