Chrysler Repair: 2000 Jeep cherokee hood release, jeep cherokee, kick plate

When i pull on the hood release handle, i have no resistance.  The cable either snapped at the handle, I still have to pull the kick plate inside the vehicle, or the cable snapped under the hood.  What is the simplest and easiest way to ope the hood?  Can I see the release mech from underneath the car or do i have to pull the headlights?

Hi Ken,
I don't have first hand knowledge of your vehicle, but I would believe that you can get at the latch from the underside of the vehicle. Look for a lever that you would push toward the driver side of the vehicle and that has a return spring to pull it back. That is what the cable pulls on to release the latch. It oould be on either side of the radiator assembly.
