Chrysler Repair: 2001 Chrysler T&C awd/blower motor, amp fuse, vacuum control

Question
Various questions like ours but our front blower motor does not work on any setting (some of the time) when cold outside, rear is fine. Once started, then shut off, and let sit for a while it would work.  Thought the module was bad so replaced it.  Now it won't work at all, even when warm.  Also, our AWD is no longer working and miss it terribly, any suggestions?

Answer
Hi Roxanne,
May I suggest that you look at the 40 amp fuse #10 in the box under the hood by the battery to see if it has a crack in the wire or the wire is blown out entirely. If it is good, see if the front blower motor relay in that same box can be heard/felt to click when a helper turns on the blower.  Let me know if fuse 10 is a 20 amp fuse instead of a 40 amp fuse because I am working from an '02 manual which may not be applicable to your '01 (in which case I have to reference to an earlier '98 manual).
On the AWD (as shown in the '98 manual) there are a number of possible mechanical/electrical/vacuum control reasons that could be the cause of it not working. To diagnose it the action has to be observed from underneath with the van elevated. By various possible alternatives one can arrive at the cause (this is called an event tree-fault tree). I can xerox copy the pages that show how to go through that analysis if someone in your acquuaintance would like to pursue this. Alternatively, if the AWD is as shown in the '02 manual then the reasons are more simply identified.
If you would inquire at a dealer's parts department as to whether the '01 you have is set up like a '98 or like an '02, i.e., which type of all wheel drive system you have, then we can go from there.
