Chrysler Repair: short circuited radio: 02 Dakota, amp radio, interior neons

Question
I installed some interior neons in my 2002 dakota. I ran them into the power wire to the radio. I ran 3 neons no problem. and now adding a fourth, i heard an ar from somewhere in the dashboard and my radio and turn signals stopped working but no fuses were blown,. I replaced the #17 10 amp radio fuse, and still nothing. I have removed the neons now and am wondering how to get my radio, and most importantly my turn signals working again?

Answer
Hi Steve,
Trucks are not my forte. If the Dakota is set up as the car lines, it could be that a fuse in a power distribution box under the hood blew which in turn powers fuse 17 so if you have that setup give a look. Otherwise you will need to trace the power wire from the fuse 17 to find where it blew open. Kevin, the other Chrysler "expert" has access to manuals and wiring diagrams to find the larger fuse in the underhood box that powers the fuses for the turn signals and radio, and so you could ask him about this as well.
