Chrysler Repair: 2000 minivan interior light problems, chrysler grand voyager, fuse box

Question
2000 Chrysler Grand Voyager SE interior light problems: The interior lights started not turning off when I shut the drivers door a couple of weeks ago. I thought it was the switch because after shutting the door several times with varying degrees of force, it would finally go out. Then last light, the passenger front door did the same thing. This morning, I went to leave for work and the lights (all of them, even the front domes) stayed on no matter how I shut or slammed the doors, I tried all of them. I rotated the dimmer/dome light control all the way up and down to no avail. Usually, all the way down on the control will override the interior lights and shut them off regardless if a door is open or not. Also, the "door open" light on the dash only comes on when you actually open the doors, so that works. I got about halfway to work with the interior lights on (very annoying at 6 am) when I decided to try the dimmer/dome control again and Presto! the lights magically went out and the dimmer/dome control suddenly started working normally (Whew! I thought I would have to get a jump start tonight.) Also, the other day, I found that the lift gate lights (only) were on in the middle of the night, I was able to turn them off rotating the dimmer/dome control all the way down. Several times I have found the interior lights on in the morning and have had a slow start because the battery was low. With winter coming on, I'm afraid that I'll kill the battery if I don't get this fixed soon. Please Help!

Answer
Hi Mike,
I was wondering how things worked out with the interior lights? Please let me know by using the 'thank/rate' tab below. While you are there if I might ask a favor: where it asks about a 'nomination for expert of the month' I would appreciate your entering a 'yes'. I am in a close race for that honor so every vote counts!
Thanks,
Roland

Hi Mike,
Thanks for the 'feedback', please let me know what you learn.
As you haven't 'exercised' the 'thank/rate' from my first response, there may be one now, shown below. If not, no problem. Just ask another question later after you see if either suggestion solves your problem, as a way of letting me know.

Hi Mike,
There are a couple of possiblities:
There is a courtesy lamp relay in the fuse box under the dash (bottom row, far right) and that relay may be sticking "on", or the body control module which is behind and attached to the fuse box could have a short that affects that relay (this would be somewhat likely if you have had any water dripping from the windshield down onto the fuse box/body module 'pack'). So try pulling the relay if you want to kill those lights, and try inserting another one borrowed from elsewhere that has the same part no. to see if that stops the problem. Otherwise, remove the plugs on the body module and then lower the 'pack' from its mounting, separate the two halves which slide together after removing the screws that retain these items, and finally use some electrical contact cleaner to spray the plugs and sockets and interface connections and thus to evaporate any water that has intruded, if that is a possibility.
Please let me know what you learn.

PS Use the 'thank/rate' tab below to get back to me with a comment or question, without having to wait for me to be 'available. to take a question. There is a space for comments, to which I will reply.
