Chrysler Repair: dash lights wiring: 2002 Voyager, mileage indicator, radio clock

Question
When I turn on my lights and parking lights my mileage indicator, gear indicator and radio clock will blink. Can you tell me what is causing this. I don't notice it when my lights are not on.

Answer
Hi Penny,
The only thing I can see where the headlamps switch is involved with lighting levels on the dash is the dash lighting dimmer control on that switch. Try rotating that to a different position and see if that has any affect on the problem. If so, then removing the switch and spraying some electronic circuit cleaner in a spray can (purchase at an electronics supply store) may help. Notice the part that moves when you rotate the shaft and then spray the cleaner inside that part through any opening you can access.
Other than that, it would be something related to an electronic component in the body computer which puts out the voltage for the lights that blink. But that would be an expensive part to replace. So try dimming up or down the control on the headlamp switch and see what happens.
