Question
QUESTION: hey i am currently switching over to a new engine cause i screwd my other one up dont ask long story and wel i am about to put the new one in and im lookinf gor a diagram for the vacume lines cause i noticed there are quite alot, and wen i was searching for the problem with the old engine i made quite the mess with them thanks

andrew

ANSWER: Hi Andrew,
The Allexpert site doesn't have provision for drawings so I couldn't send you one that way. There are 2 approaches:
Try www.autozone.com where if you enter the model and year and engine they have repair manual sorts of postings that probably includes your vehicle's vacuum routing diagram.
I have the '97 shop manual which has the diagrams for the 2.0L SOHC and DOHC engines. I could xerox copy that and postal mail it to you if you want. Use the "thank and rate" tab and enter your postal mailing address there.
I guess the diagram on the underside of the hood is no longer there?
Good luck on the project.

QUESTION: well thanks for the help my engine is in and runs well, i have ran into a problem with my altonator charging my battery, i bought a new battery and drove it for a bit and then the next day i had it going but it started to sputter and died oence i turned on my lights, somthing with the altonator. I figured i would need a new altonator  but i was looking it over and one wore on the altonator was off well out ov the plug, it is a green orange wire, i looked at the schematics for it and it goes to a capacitor and then into the auto shutdown relay, all the other wires are fin but because of this wire would it cause my battery not to charge? The schematics i got at autozone, but i was just wondering is this my problem i know i need to hook it back up but it is snowing today and its quite a bit of work to do this, so i am looking into it or should i take off my altonator to be rebuilt by an expert? thanks anyway

Drew

Answer
Hi Drew,
I am glad to hear that the engine is installed.
The dark green/orange wire from the autoshutdown relay is the 12 volt supply that is applied to the field coils of the alternator and those coils have to be energized with that 12 volt supply for the alternator to produce current to recharge the battery/operate the electronics of the car.
So if you reattach it you should restore the charging function of the alternator and thus resolve your problem.
