Chrysler Repair: electrical problems on 1986 Chrysler Lebaron turbo, chrysler lebaron, 1986 chrysler lebaron

Question
running errands one day, I started car and it sounded like it was racing real fast.  Put it in gear and it acted like it was not getting any gas.  Then car resumed normal running.  Took it to Firestone, they ran it a couple of times and stated I needed to take to the dealership for "intermittent wiring problems."  dash board lights do not work, even after i have tried to switch out fuses.

can you provide a rough cost estimate at the dealership?  With they have the necessary parts for an 86 leBaron? thanks.

Answer
Hi Donald,
I don't know about pricing of service jobs, because I tryl to stay out of shops... which is what I am also trying to help other owners do.
I would need to know more about the racing/not getting gas experience. If it only happened once I would not worry about it. You might get a fault code stored in the memory of the engine controller. To find out use the ignition switch: "on-off-on-off-on and leave it on" doing that in 5 seconds or less elapsed time. The "power loss" light on the dash remains "on" but then begins to flash, pause, flash, pause, etc. Count the number of flashes before each pause. Then repeat to verify an accurate count. Then write back and tell me the pulse counts. Or you can go to www.allpar.com/fix/codes.html for a code listing.
On the dash lights, check fuse #12 for possibly having a subtle crack. Otherwise tell me more about your "problems".
I assume you have a K-body coupe or convertible rather than a GTS sedan; if not tell me so as these are different wiring set-ups. Parts should not be a problem as you can always get them from a wreck at a pull-it-yourself yard.
